Tonight we completed the last of our faith sharing sessions in our parish. For the last 6 weeks we have come together in faith, to discuss the history of our diocese and to shar our stories and experiences. I am so blessed to have been a part of this experience. It was a great opportunity to get to know people and to support each other in our beliefs. Not everyone was of the same opinion about everything, and this is ok, we are all united in the Body of Christ, and we are all called to minister and witness to the gospel. I wish there were more opportunities for this type of sharing. Last year, in our parish we had a faith formation group which discussed church teaching about a great many things and how they relate to the issues we face today. Sadly, I was unable to attend these sessions. I think that it is extremely important that we all be united in faith, and have a full understanding of our beliefs. I feel that I am constantly searching and praying for humility, obedience and discernment when it comes to matters of life. Sometimes I find that you can work yourself into a real frenzy, and it is nice to be able to share all these things with friends of the same faith. Dear Lord, send Your Spirit down upon us all, heal us, unite us, enlighten us and strengthen us. Help us to live out our calling according to your will for us Lord, help us to die to ourselves and to seek, with humble and contrite hearts, righteousness in all things. Bless and protect Your holy church and Your faithful servant John Paul II. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. |
