• Converting to Catholicism

Posted by jamie_silverthorn at Tuesday Jun 27, 2006

Hi,

I've been interested in quite some time the Catholic church and am considering converting from my United Church to the Catholic church.

I am curious what is required for someone to convert, or what the general process entails.

Any help, information, or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jamie

Dear Jamie, There are several stages in the process of converting to the
Roman Catholic tradition. The first stage is the stage you seem to be in
right now - that is the Inquiry Stage. During the inquiry stage you would
gather all sorts of data and ask good and relevant questions like you have
already. As far as finding someone who can answer these questions, it would
be good to contact your local Catholic church. Since I do not know where you
live, I cannot suggest parish name nor contact person at this point. I would
certainly entertain speaking with you in person, or by telephone at the
Diocesan Centre - 30 Ste. Anne Road, Sudbury - 705 - 674-2727.
