Our History...
In May of 1972, a small group of Sisters, lay men and women began to meet
together for shared, spontaneous prayer. These meetings were held in private
homes and then, as the group increased in number, meetings were held in the
library at the Sudbury General Hospital (now St. Joseph's Health Centre).
Shortly afterwards, the group began to meet weekly in the hall at Christ the
King Church. Thus began the Prayer Community of the little servants of CHRIST
THE KING.
Since that time, thousands of people have experienced
the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and have developed a personal
relationship with the Lord. They are people of prayer, who love their
God, who love His Word, who love their Catholic Faith and who want to share
their faith with others.
From the beginning, The Eucharist has been celebrated at our
prayer meeting each week, and we believe this one factor alone has been the
key to our steady growth in the Lord. We have also been blessed with
excellent Spiritual Directors who have guided us on our journey.
Since November 1st 1990, we have sponsored Perpetual
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, 24 hours a day, seven days a
week, in a special Chapel built off the main entrance to Our Lady of Hope
Church. Our weekly meetings, which are held every Thursday evening, also
moved to this site on October 2nd 1997.
We are filled with gratitude for the many graces and blessings The Lord has
showered on this prayer community, and continues to shower upon all those who
attend our weekly meetings.
