Mass for Cancer Sufferers
For several years the little servants of Christ The King prayer community has sponsored special semi-annual Masses for cancer sufferers, their families and caregivers from throughout the Region. As in the past, the Mass celebrated on Sunday, October 19th, at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Sudbury was very well attended.
All present were invited to join in praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary prior to the celebration of the Eucharist. Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe, celebrant and homilist for the Mass, was assisted at the altar by Deacon Victor Vere. 'Salt of the Earth', the music ministry of the prayer community, led the congregation in songs of worship. They also ministered through peaceful musical selections during The Sacrament of the Sick, which was administered to all who desired to be anointed by Bishop Plouffe, Msgr. Raymond Farrell, Fr. André Tremblay, pastor of St. Mathieu's Parish and Fr. Charles Mathieu, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish.
Following Mass many stayed to socialize and enjoy refreshments in the parish gathering space.
The next special Mass will be celebrated in April of 2009.
