Prayer For Cancer Patients
Both women embraced their own illness with deep faith and courage and, through this, were able to offer hope and consolation to other cancer sufferers. Their own personalities were transformed, not only through the grace of God and acceptance of their illness, but through the continuous loving support of their families and friends.
As requests for prayer increased, a list of the names of cancer patients was begun. Paulette Bean joined the ministry as recording secretary of meetings and collated the list of names of cancer sufferers
The team prayed daily for the cancer patients on their list and the leaders met weekly to pray with other cancer patients. As Denise and Jackie’s illnesses progressed they were no longer able to meet with others for weekly prayer but they continued praying over the telephone in order to comfort and encourage those suffering with cancer.
Denise, born February 8th, 1948, died February 14th, 2000. Jackie was born March 10th, 1944 and died March 20th, 2005.
The Cancer Ministry, now a group of 6, remain faithful to their daily commitment of prayer for cancer sufferers. The names submitted are confidential to the group and to date more than 4000 people are prayed for each day.
