Brenda Cavallin
Brenda Cavallin was born and raised in Sudbury and is a true Northerner at heart. In early high school she was personally invited by adult leaders of her home parish of St. Andrew the Apostle to sing in the youth choir. She was encouraged and trained by these same adults to become a cantor. She attributes this positive experience of belonging in the choir and being involved in a parish that celebrated it's young parishioners as an important part of her faith formation as the Christian woman she is today.
Brenda spent her high school and university years studying voice with Louise Innes and later in Toronto with Peggy Maghon. She graduated from Laurentian University with a double concentration of Psychology and Theatre Arts. She is also a graduate of the Certificate in Youth Ministry through St. Michael's College and is presently completing her Diploma in Ministry through St. Francis Xavier. Brenda has attended a North American Forum on the Cathecumenate, two OLC summer schools and has recently had the privilege of attending the National Pastoral Musicians Conference in Milwaukee.
Brenda dedicated 10 years to stage theatre 6 of those years as a professional actress working in both Sudbury and Toronto. She now lives in Sudbury and has been happily married for 12 years and co-parents 4 children under the age of 9. She and her husband are active in his home parish of St. Patrick's which she now calls her own. For 8 years now Brenda has been on-staff at St. Patrick's as Co-ordinator of the two things she is most passionate about namely, Youth and Music Ministry. Working within a community that has a parish mission statement that is dedicated to Vibrant Worship, Radical Witness and Committed Service is a gift when raising a young family in the faith. As choir director, leader of song and psalmist Brenda works with a team that leads their congregation in vibrant worship while personally inviting youth to share the gifts and talents in the work of the mission of the church.
