Normand Blanchard
Normand Blanchard, a native of Cornwall, Ontario moved from Ottawa to Sudbury in 1993 to found and coordinate the French-language Funeral Services Education program at Cambrian College and Collège Boréal.
He is currently the Diocesan Coordinator of Liturgical Music for the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie (Sudbury, ON), accompanist / choir director at St. Andrew the Apostle parish (Sudbury) and the Coordinator of Spiritual Care services and Chair of the Ethics Committee at the General Hospital in Espanola, ON. Norm is a member of the Ontario Liturgical Conference Music Commission, the National Pastoral Musicians Association and of the Royal Canadian College of Organists.
He studied music under the tutelage of Sr. Thérèse Lafontaine, principal of École Musica, a private music school founded in Cornwall, Ontario by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Norm has participated in numerous workshops on liturgy and liturgical music and has attended numerous summer schools offered by the Ontario Liturgical Conference and the National Pastoral Musicians' Association. During his 35 years of experience in liturgical music, Norm has served in parishes of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall, the Archdiocese of Ottawa, the Archdiocese of Toronto and of the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie.
As Chair of the local organizing committee for the Ontario Liturgical Conference Summer School for Musicians 2006, Normand looks forward to welcoming people from all over Ontario and Canada involved in liturgical music to share in Sudbury's unique hospitality and to live a wonderful week of learning, praying and music making.
