Denis Mayer is currently the Associate Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. This department includes the following services: Continuing Education (Distance Education); Liason and Recruitment; Student Health Services; and On-line Studies.

Employed by Laurentian University since 1987, Denis is responsible for strategic matters, for resource management and for the coordination of services offered by these departments.

He is also the President of the Canadian Virtual University. During the academic year 2002-2003, he was President of the Canadian Association for Distance Education. He is also honorary President of the Ontario Uiversities Council for Continuing Education.

Denis is currently the President of Board of Directors of United Way (Sudbury) and President of the Administrative Committee of Ste-Anne-des-Pins parish (Sudbury).

Denis is married to Mary and has two children, Daniel (19) and Julianne (17).
