World Youth Day 2008 - Catechesis
Today we started our day with Catechesis in the morning then a live re-enactment of Station of the Cross
Today our catechesis was about the how we can bring the Holy Spirit back home. Our guest speaker was Bishop Christopher from Australia. He talked about how God has a plan for all of us. God can see the whole picture at once. We are a part of this awsome creation of God. He talked about that often and he finds himself thinking"Why Him"," Why is he a Bishop" Why is he alive". His anwser: we are not accident, God sees the whole picture and has a purpose for us all. One thing that Bishop Christoper said that really stuck in my head is a quote for J.P. II " God has chosen us for life, he did that for a single purpose to save the world. " God is not interested in our projected image. How we portray ourself doesn't concern God. All He cares about is our innerself. Bishop Christopher continued by telling us that we pilgrims are able to spread the good news in away that no bishop or priest can ever do. We have changed the atmophere of Sydney by our presence, songs and cheer. The job now is to bring that spirit home with us.
After catechesis we headed to Barangaroo, a former shipping yard converted into a park for WYD, for a re-enactment of the stations of the cross. The stations started in the middle of down town Sydney and finished in Barangroo, where we were situated. We watched and prayed as we followed along on the big screen the movement to the cross from station to station. It was very moving. I have never see anything like it. It was incredable to see thoudands of young people from around the world reflectiing and praying together.
