Bishop issues new appointments for priests and deacons

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Jean-Louis Plouffe announces the following appointments for priests and deacons in the diocese:

Effective Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Rev. John (Jack) Goldie, currently pastor of Saint Pius X, Lively and Saint Christopher, Whitefish is retired ad normam C.538, paragraph 3.

Rev. Terrence Fournier, currently pastor of Saint Stanislaus, Copper Cliff is appointed pastor (ad normam, C. 519) of Saint Pius X, Lively and Saint Christopher, Whitefish while remaining pastor of Saint Stanislaus, Copper Cliff.

Effective Friday, January 5, 2008

Rev. Normand Fortier, currently pastor of Sainte-Marie-du-Sault, Sault Ste-Marie and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Garden Village is retired due to health reasons.

Rev. Eugène Mbuya, currently pastor of St-Augustin, Garson is appointed pastor (ad normam C.540) of Sainte-Marie-du-Sault, Sault Ste. Marie and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Garden Village.

Effective January 10, 2008

Rev. Edouard Lafontaine, currently pastor of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Alban; Corpus Christi, Dokis; and St-David, Noëlville has been granted a sabbatical leave (until June 6, 2008) which will be spent at the North American College, 00120, Vatican City.

Effective February 1, 2008

Rev. Guy Albert, currently pastor of St-Jean-de-Brébeuf, Sudbury is appointed pastor (ad normam, C.540) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Alban; Corpus Christi, Dokis; and St-David, Noëlville.

Msgr. Jean-Paul Jolicoeur, PH, currently completing a period of study at the North American College in Rome is appointed pastor (ad normam, C.519) of St-Jean-de-Brébeuf, Sudbury.

Deacon Patrick Raymond, currently serving the parish of Saint Stanislaus, Copper Cliff is appointed for diaconal ministry at Saint Pius X, Lively and Saint Christopher, Whitefish.
